P & L / Financial Responsibility

  • Built my Maid Right franchise from the ground up, generating over $70k in monthly revenue, yielding over 20% profit.
  • Broad general management (P&L) responsibilities leading all aspects of $180+ million global Food Service business at Meadwestvaco. Responsible for growing revenue by over 11% and EBIT by over 7% in the first two years. Managed business through major crisis with loss of key customer due to change of ownership ($60 million impact) in third year. Within 8 months of crisis, had business recovered to historic volume/profitability levels, on pace to deliver $240 million with positive EP results.
  • Managed a $72M marketing budget (over $52 million in media spend) at Denny’s.
  • Generated over $500M in sales, approximately $30M, incremental via international new product launches at McDonald’s.

Marketing

  • As CMO, responsible for all aspects of Jiffy Lube marketing, customer experience and innovation, inclusive of brand management, retail/field marketing, public relations, advertising/media (social/digital and traditional).
  • Launched national Jiffy Lube Rewards (CRM) program. Created and launched 2 new ad campaigns to expand Jiffy Lube’s franchisee participation in marketing material use. Rebuilt Jiffy Lube websit to improve messaging, create more modern look, and improve communication to customers. Launched Maintenance Partners for Life promotion with the American Heart Association.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Denny’s marketing as CMO. Developed and managed the 2008 marketing calendar. Created and launched Build Your Own Grand Slam, launched new Late Night platform, launched Take Out and Sizzling Breakfast Platters. Revitalized Denny’s brand by re-allocating working media.

Strategic Planning / Consumer Insight

  • Initiated a new product development and testing process that led to launch of Denny’s All Nighter campaign that increased late night traffic by 7% after years of double digit declines.
  • Repositioned Quiznos brand in Australia and developed, tested and launched new sub menu in less than six months as a consultant
  • Utilized stage gate process and developed a consumer validated pipeline of over 100 new product concepts worldwide. Test-marketed and commercialized 14 new products in nine countries at McDonald’s.
  • Project leadership member for all product launches at Pizza Hut to include Stuffed Crust, TripleDecker/Insider, Big New Yorkeer, The Edge, core product re-launch.
  • Utilized consumer-driven category management process and streamlined menu product offerings by 20% improving operations and purchasing efficiency at Denny’s.

Innovation / Business Development

  • Developed, tested and commercially launched five additional core product lines at MeadWestvaco.
  • Developed 3 packaging solution innovations at MeadWestvaco – Paper Lids, Insulated Cup and Full Lifecycle Cookable Containers.
  • Responsible for creating a food service vertical, focused on supporting both marketing and IT data and system needs to build/enhance digital and social marketing capability (big data, insights driven one to one marketing).
  • Launched 6 new products/product lines across 12 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America with McDonald’s.
  • Developed consumer based concept testing approach to qualify all pipeline initiatives (promotional and product) for Pizza Hut allowing for appropriate prioritization and allocation of resources.
  • Worked with Senior VP of New Concept Development to create and develop two new restaurant concepts for Pizza Hut, Inc.

Team Building

  • Built Maid Right business and teams from scratch. Currently have 6 franchise teams and 3 employee teams.
  • Built team at MeadWestvaco from 10 employees to 25 with an additional 70+ matrix staff. Established dedicated marketing, innovation capability and global sales force.
  • Led 20 marketing and innovation (project management and technical) professionals at Jiffy Lube.
  • Led marketing staff of 32 professionals at Denny’s comprised of brand advertising (social/digital and traditional), media and merchandising, public relations, product marketing, promotions, consumer insights, product development and field marketing. Restructured and staffed field marketing and consumer insights functions.
  • Created and led global network of 7 cross-functional menu teams at McDonald’s consisting of marketing, market research, culinary and food technology, operations, supply chain and financial analysis.
